President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Atiku Abubakar Isah, has filed a N38.3 billion suit at the Federal High Court, Abuja, alleging unlawful detention, torture, and media defamation.
Filed on May 14, 2025 (Suit No: FHC/ABJ/CS/966/2025), the suit lists the DSS Director, NTA Director, and Seyi Tinubu among the respondents.
Isah claims he was abducted, detained without trial for over 15 days, and subjected to torture in violation of his constitutional rights. He seeks declarations that the actions of the respondents constitute breaches of his rights to movement, life, and dignity.
“The respondents’ blatant kidnapping, abduction and unlawful detention… amounts to total breach of the applicant’s fundamental human rights,” the suit states.
He is demanding N32.87 billion in general damages and N5.5 billion in exemplary damages.
Isah’s family alleges the DSS took him from a clinic and remains silent on his whereabouts. A court date for the case is expected to be set soon.
