At least 14 people have died following lightning strikes across six districts in Odisha during heavy rains and thunderstorms.

At least 14 people were killed and several injured by lightning strikes in Odisha, India, during Friday’s thunderstorms, officials confirmed Saturday. The affected districts include Koraput, Jajpur, and Ganjam.

The India Meteorological Department has warned of further inclement weather. Lightning-related deaths are common during India’s annual monsoon season.
