The Julius Abure-led faction of the Labour Party has condemned what it called a desperate plot to reverse the Supreme Court’s April 4 ruling affirming Abure as national chairman.
Faction spokesman Obiora Ifoh alleged that the Nenadi Usman-led Caretaker Committee, backed by Governor Alex Otti, attempted to obtain an ex parte order through a proxy at the Federal High Court in Gusau.
“We are shocked to learn that some of our leaders are desperately shopping for court orders… to stop INEC from recognizing our leadership,” Ifoh said.
The judge, however, rejected the motion and adjourned the case to June 4. Ifoh accused the Usman faction of repeated legal distractions, saying, “This is not normal again.”
He insisted the Supreme Court and INEC had already affirmed Abure’s leadership.
