The Diocese confirmed the tragic incident in a statement signed by Chancellor Rev Fr Charles Ndubuisi, revealing the priest was rushed to a nearby hospital but could not be revived. “With faith in the resurrection, we announce the sudden demise of our brother priest,” the statement read.
Fr Udogu served as Parish Priest of St Francis of Assisi and Dean of Awka Deanery II, known for his devoted pastoral work and community leadership. The Diocese extended condolences to his family and parishioners, promising to release burial arrangements later.
The unexpected death has shocked the Awka Catholic community, with many mourning the loss of the respected clergyman. “May his soul rest in the bosom of the Lord,” the Diocese prayed as tributes pour in for the late priest.
