Tinubu set to review ministers’ scorecards ahead of second anniversary

With President Bola Tinubu’s second anniversary in office approaching, the Central Delivery Coordination Unit (CDCU) is finalising a new ministerial performance report for Q1 2025.

According to presidency sources, the assessment will reach Tinubu “any time from now” as ministries face increased scrutiny.

The CDCU, led by Hadiza Bala-Usman, has evaluated ministries based on projects uploaded to a secure portal. Scores were benchmarked against performance bonds signed in October 2023. While some ministers scored above average, most were rated average or poor.

“The one minister who has done fairly well is the Minister of Works,” a senior official disclosed.

Though Tinubu is not expected to announce immediate sackings, insiders say the report will inform future reshuffles. Critics from PDP, NNPP, and LP allege government failure, urging cabinet overhaul.

“This government is a monumental failure,” PDP spokesperson Debo Ologunagba stated. NNPP’s Ladipo Johnson said, “It is time for President Tinubu to rejig his cabinet.”

The CDCU report, last used during the October 2024 reshuffle, is considered key to Tinubu’s governance strategy.

“If you are performing, nothing to fear… If no performance, you leave us,” Tinubu declared in November 2023.
