No Nigerian is more Nigerian than any other Nigerian
Nigerian comedian Acapella has revealed he received threats following his criticism of Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab.
The incident stemmed from a viral comment by influencer Scott Iguma, who claimed that Lagos “smells.” Commissioner Wahab responded by accusing certain individuals of attempting to tarnish the state’s image, prompting backlash from Acapella.
The comedian accused Wahab of exhibiting ethnic bias and applying double standards, which sparked heated exchanges online.
“Over the past days, as expected, I’ve received several DMs and few calls making empty threats here and there,” Acapella stated in a post on Tuesday.
He defended his comments, saying, “The first step to solving any problem is to first identify there’s one. We are all we have.”
Acapella also stressed unity, noting, “No Nigerian is more Nigerian than any other Nigerian. Don’t let anybody gaslight you into believing you are demarketing the country, especially when you point out the ills that befall us as a nation.”
