The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, has called on the Federal Government to expedite the completion of the Kashimbila Dam in Taraba State, describing it as key to solving Nigeria’s long-standing power challenges.
Speaking at the Taravest Summit on Wednesday in Jalingo, he said: “We need that dam ready at 100 per cent. If that project had been completed and was already generating power, many of the challenges we are having with power would have been a thing of the past.”
The Sultan lauded Governor Agbu Kefas for creating a secure environment that now attracts investors. “Taraba is more secure than it used to be, and people can now come in peacefully,” he noted.
He also assured the governor of traditional rulers’ support: “We are here as moral and spiritual leaders to give you the support you need.”
The summit attracted dignitaries including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Atiku Abubakar, Tony Elumelu, and the Ooni of Ife.
