Football is cruel, and it’s been our turn to lose.

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has expressed willingness to leave the club if they decide to cash in on him as part of a squad rebuild following their Europa League final defeat to Tottenham. United lost 1-0 in Bilbao on Wednesday, with Brennan Johnson scoring the decisive goal.

Fernandes, 30, said, “I have always been honest. I’ve always said I will be here until the club says to me that it’s time to go.” He added, “If the club thinks it’s time to part ways because they want to do some cashing in or whatever, it is what it is and football sometimes is like this.”

The midfielder, who joined United in 2020, described the defeat as “a very sad day” but stood behind manager Ruben Amorim, despite United’s poor league form. “We just agreed that he’s the right man,” Fernandes said, highlighting the need to restore positivity and fight for trophies.
