Former Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Political Affairs, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has criticized the recent endorsement of President Tinubu’s second term bid by leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The endorsement was made during the APC National Summit held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, with top party figures praising Tinubu’s leadership.
But reacting on 𝕏, Baba-Ahmed said the move reveals how detached APC leaders are from the struggles of ordinary Nigerians.
“APC’s leaders are either poor politicians or they live in their own world. They fire their starter gun, run alone and declare themselves winner,” he wrote.
He stressed that in times of hardship, leaders should remain close to the people instead of self-congratulations.
“This is a time for some humility and disciplined hard work. Leaders stay with their people in difficult times. They do not shut them out,” he added.
Baba-Ahmed’s remarks underscore growing criticism over the administration’s performance amid economic hardship.
