“The Lagos Government is hereby informing members of the Public, particularly Lagosians that the tenancy Law of 2015 is still subsisting. “
The Lagos State Government has disowned a viral statement claiming an update to the state’s Tenancy Law, dismissing it as false and unauthorized. In a Friday statement, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s Special Adviser on Housing, Barakat Odunuga-Bakare, clarified that the purported amendment did not originate from any official channel.
“The attention of the Lagos State Government has been drawn to a fabricated online publication stating that the Lagos State Tenancy Law has been updated to better protect tenants and regulate landlord practices,” she said. The government urged residents to disregard the misleading report and rely only on verified updates from authorized agencies.
