The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested a woman, Zaliha Shuaibu, for allegedly killing her co-wife’s three-month-old baby by feeding him acid in Malari village, Soba LGA.
According to ASP Mansir Hassan, the tragic event occurred on May 13, 2025, inside a shared family compound. “The child was rushed to a nearby hospital in the village but was pronounced dead on arrival,” Hassan stated.
Police said Maryam Ibrahim, the baby’s mother, had briefly left the child alone. On returning, she found Zaliha holding the infant, who showed signs of distress and injury.

Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, assured, “No stone will be left unturned,” and vowed to apprehend all involved. Police are continuing the search for Lawal as the investigation unfolds.
