“Peter’s testimony before the EFCC is riddled with lies and misrepresentations…”

PUNCH

At the resumed trial of Jude Okoye over alleged $1 million and £34,000 in royalties theft, the defence accused Peter Okoye of misleading the EFCC with false claims.

Counsel to Okoye, Clement Onwuenwunor (SAN), told Justice Rahman Oshodi of the Lagos Special Offences Court that Peter’s testimony was inconsistent.

“Peter’s testimony before the EFCC is riddled with lies and misrepresentations… an intentional effort to mislead investigators and this honourable court,” he said.

The defence discredited Peter’s academic claim, revealing he falsely presented himself as a University of Abuja graduate.

Bank documents showed Peter had signatory access to Northside Music accounts and received multiple payments, contradicting his earlier statements.

Documents also disproved his royalty claims from Mad Solutions, showing he received far less than the $25,000 and $20,000 he claimed.

Justice Oshodi admitted the documents into evidence and adjourned the case to October 10 and 17, 2025.
