“Just read a copy of this silly book… this book is political fairy smut,” — Naomi Biden.

A new book by CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios’ Alex Thompson has ignited controversy, alleging that President Joe Biden’s inner circle concealed his cognitive decline. Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again hit shelves just days after Biden revealed an aggressive prostate cancer diagnosis.
The book claims Biden’s family and aides worked to mask his condition, aided by media complicity, until his struggles became apparent during the June 2024 debate with Trump.
Despite their findings, Tapper and Thompson have faced criticism from liberal media figures. “Jake Tapper’s New Book on Biden Reveals How Corporate Media is Failing America,” wrote Wajahat Ali, while The View hosts accused Tapper of distracting from Trump.
Biden’s granddaughter Naomi slammed the book as “political fairy smut,” while The Atlantic’s Mark Leibovich downplayed the revelations, calling Biden’s age an “observable fact.”
Still, the authors insist their reporting reflects journalism’s core mission: uncovering the truth, even when unpopular.
