Ali Ndume, senator representing Borno South, has praised President Bola Tinubu for appointing northerners into key federal agencies.
On Friday, the federal government named 12 northerners to management roles in various agencies, including Yazid Shehu Umar Danfulani as managing director of the Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC), and Hamza Ibrahim Baba as programme manager of the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP).
Others appointed include Abubakar Umar Jarengol, executive director of operations at NAIC, and Isa Aremu, director-general of the Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS).
Ndume had earlier criticised Tinubu’s appointments as “lopsided” and against the federal character principle. However, in a statement on Saturday, he said the recent appointments show Tinubu “is a listening leader who is ready to accept criticism.”
“President Tinubu is someone who surrenders to constructive criticisms,” Ndume said, adding the new appointments address previous imbalances.
