Four police inspectors have been accused of abducting and extorting ₦151.5 million from Segun Okubajo, a Nigerian citizen visiting from abroad. In a petition dated May 2, 2025, Prof. Yemi Oke (SAN) wrote to the Inspector-General of Police on behalf of Okubajo’s father, alleging the officers arrested Segun without cause and detained him incommunicado.
“Our client’s son, Segun Okubajo, who had no criminal complaints against him… was violently arrested,” the petition states.
The officers—Inspectors Mohammed Yusuf, Ojochenemi Jubrin, Rizama Reuben, and Isokpuwu John—allegedly demanded ₦1 billion, later “negotiated” to ₦151.5 million.
“To save his son’s life… the family raised the sum through loans,” it adds.
The petition claims threats continue and part of the extorted funds went to a retired DIG. A prior petition in November 2024 yielded no response.
“If no action is taken within 14 days,” the family warns, “we will escalate the case… and pursue legal redress.”
The petition is backed by “documents, videos, and pictures.”
