A mysterious metal sphere recovered near Buga, Colombia, is sparking speculation about its possible extraterrestrial origins. The object, marked with intricate etchings, was filmed drifting erratically through the sky before crashing to the ground in March.
Researcher Jose Luis Velazquez, featured in a viral video with over 500,000 views, described the orb as having “no welds or joints,” suggesting an unusual construction. An X-ray analysis reportedly showed three internal layers of differing densities.
Despite the intrigue, not all experts are convinced. “It looks to me like a really cool art project,” said Julia Mossbridge, a physicist at the University of San Diego, in an interview with Fox News.
The Pentagon, which has faced pressure to investigate unidentified aerial phenomena, maintains there is no evidence of alien life or craft.
A report ordered by Congress last year found no confirmed interactions with extraterrestrials.
The Defense Department’s All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office continues to monitor such reports.
