Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after car hits pedestrians during Liverpool parade, injuring at least 65. Police continue investigation. Four victims remain seriously ill in hospital.
A 53-year-old man from West Derby was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, dangerous driving, and driving while unfit through drugs following a crash during Liverpool’s Premier League victory parade on Monday.
The incident happened on Water Street, where a car collided with pedestrians, injuring at least 65 people. Two victims, including a child, suffered serious injuries. Liverpool City Region Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram said four people remain “very, very ill” in hospital.
Emergency services rushed to the scene shortly after 6pm, with police, fire crews, and ambulances responding. Forensic officers have been conducting investigations as the area remains cordoned off.
Detective Chief Superintendent Karen Jaundrill confirmed the arrest and said inquiries into the crash are ongoing.
