A Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, sitting in Jabi, Abuja, on Tuesday, remanded Prof. Sani Ibrahim in Correctional Service, for conspiracy, “forgery and criminal trespass”.

An FCT High Court has ordered the remand of Ahmadu Bello University’s Prof. Sani Ibrahim in Kuje Correctional Centre over alleged forgery and criminal trespass involving a prime Guzape plot.

Justice Ademuyiwa Oyeyipo ruled on Tuesday after the biochemistry professor pleaded not guilty to 4-count charges of conspiring to alter NEXTDORA Ltd’s RC number and illegally occupying Plot 4411. The IGP’s prosecution team revealed Prof. Ibrahim had evaded three previous court appearances before police arrested him at ABU Zaria. His SAN, R.O. Atabo, unsuccessfully challenged the court’s jurisdiction, citing discrepancies in the prosecutor’s seal.

“The charge is null for not being signed by a legal practitioner known to law,” Atabo argued, referencing Section 47 of the Penal Code. Prosecution counsel Frank Longe countered, securing the remand order after opposing oral bail requests. Justice

Oyeyipo adjourned to June 19 for proper bail consideration.

The case exposes alleged high-profile land racketeering in Abuja’s elite Guzape district, with accomplices still at large. Legal analysts note this reinforces the police’s renewed anti-graft focus on academic-complicit property fraud.
