The European Union (EU) has pledged €300 million to boost economic and human development in Northern Nigeria, focusing on renewable energy, digital economy, agriculture, and climate change.

Head of the EU delegation, Ambassador Gautier Mignot, made the disclosure during a courtesy visit to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on Tuesday in Kano.

“Kano is designed to benefit significant chunk of the developmental plan being anchored under the EU Globalgate way corporation that would be unfolded soon,” Mignot said.

He noted that state governments could leverage the initiative to access credit facilities and stimulate growth, adding, “EU has seen potential development in Kano especially in trade and human development.”

Governor Yusuf expressed appreciation, stating, “We are ready to create an enabling environment to ease investment opportunities and infrastructure to strengthen the intervention.”

Mignot also visited existing EU-funded projects in renewable energy and expressed interest in identifying new investment areas and partnering on future initiatives.
