The development comes after the singer claimed during an Instagram Live session that he had a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl.
The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has summoned controversial artist Darlington Okoye, known as Speed Darlington, over allegations of sexual misconduct involving a minor.
The development comes after the singer claimed during an Instagram Live session that he had a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl. The comment triggered public outrage and led the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) to report the matter to NAPTIP, urging a full investigation.
In response to the backlash, Speed Darlington said the statement was a promotional stunt for a new song, adding, “I’m sorry I lied.” He later apologized for any offence caused.
However, NAPTIP, in a statement released on Thursday, confirmed that the singer has been summoned for questioning and warned that failing to honour the invitation may result in legal action.
“NAPTIP remains committed to protecting the rights of minors and will ensure thorough investigations and appropriate actions,” the agency stated.
