Undocumented migrant may have been framed in Trump death threat case

Investigators now believe Ramon Morales-Reyes, the undocumented migrant arrested for allegedly threatening to kill Trump, may have been framed—with evidence pointing to another individual forging the letter to sabotage Reyes’ legal standing.

An undocumented Mexican national arrested for allegedly threatening to assassinate Donald Trump may have been framed, law enforcement sources told CNN.

Ramon Morales-Reyes, 54, was accused by DHS Secretary Kristi Noem of sending a letter vowing to “shoot [Trump] in the head,” but investigators now suspect the threat was penned by someone else to sabotage Reyes, who is a victim in an unrelated robbery case.

The turquoise-ink letter, received May 21, also promised to “self-deport” after killing Trump. However, federal officials say Reyes’ handwriting doesn’t match, and jail calls suggest another individual sought addresses tied to the letter.

Noem, criticized as “ICE Barbie” for politicized immigration stunts, hailed Reyes’ arrest, urging critics to “tone down rhetoric.” Reyes, with prior arrests but no charges in this case, remains in ICE custody in Wisconsin. Milwaukee police confirmed an identity theft probe but withheld details. DHS did not comment on the framing allegations.
