“How can my own wife refuse to shave my private parts? This worried me,” he told the court.
A woman in Kitwe, Zambia, has been granted divorce after her husband abandoned her for five years, citing her refusal to shave his private parts as the reason for leaving.
Joseph Kasito, 40, told the Ganerton Local Court that his wife, Agnes Kandela, stopped performing what he described as marital duties, prompting him to seek affection elsewhere. “How can my own wife refuse to shave my private parts? This worried me,” he told the court.
Agnes, in her testimony, said Joseph’s family never accepted her, often claiming she was not his “class” due to her lack of education. She added that he once relocated and left her with his mother, who disliked her.
The couple, married since 2003 with four children, has lived apart since 2019. Joseph has since remarried.
Presiding Magistrate Mutono Banda granted the divorce, ordering Joseph to pay K15,000 compensation to Agnes in K200 monthly installments and K300 monthly for child maintenance. Agnes said she wanted to move on with her life.
