Two Years of Tinubu: Nigerians decry worsening hardship, insecurity

Many residents said under the Tinubu administration, the average person has experienced more poverty and insecurity than under any other government in the nation.

As President Bola Tinubu marks two years in office, Nigerians across socioeconomic divides lament deepening poverty, insecurity, and policy failures. While some acknowledge his reform attempts—including fuel subsidy removal and exchange rate unification—many argue these measures have crippled livelihoods. “Daily survival has become increasingly difficult,” said Prof. Benjamin Okaba of the Ijaw National Congress, citing inflation and naira depreciation.

IYC President Dr. Alaye Theophilus called Tinubu’s tenure “very disappointing,” stating: “People pass through hell daily.” Activist Blessing Adima added: “Everything has gone from bad to worse… Insecurity is worse, terrorists have taken over.”
