At least two civilians, including a 9-year-old girl, were killed Saturday as Russian forces launched widespread drone and missile strikes across Ukraine, officials said.
The girl died in Dolynka, Zaporizhzhia, where “one house was destroyed” and several others damaged, said Gov. Ivan Fedorov. A man was also killed in Kherson, according to Gov. Oleksandr Prokudin.
Russia launched 109 drones and five missiles; Ukraine’s air force intercepted many. Meanwhile, Moscow claimed control of Novopil (Donetsk) and Vodolahy (Sumy), prompting new evacuations in 11 Sumy settlements. President Zelenskyy warned of a 50,000-strong Russian buildup aiming to create a buffer zone.
Ukraine’s Gen. Oleksandr Syrskyi reported ongoing battles in Donetsk and Sumy, and claimed Ukrainian troops still hold parts of Russia’s Kursk region, which Moscow denies.
Kyiv says it’s ready for peace talks in Istanbul but demands Moscow release a promised memorandum. “The Russians are concealing this document… There is no clarity,” Zelenskyy wrote on Telegram.
