A woman is rethinking a family vacation after learning her 23-year-old son plans to bring his “older” partner and her nine-year-old child.
Sharing her concerns on Mumsnet’s “Am I Being Unreasonable?” forum, the mother said the girlfriend is “very controlling” and the child, though “sweet,” is non-verbal with behavioral challenges. “We’ve only spent a day with [the child] before, and we were all shattered afterwards,” she wrote.
She added that including them would “change the whole holiday.” Reactions were mixed. One commenter said, “It’d be pretty s—– to exclude a partner of nearly two years.” Another wrote, “You’re talking almost a year from now… not including them is a bit of a d— move tbh.” Others supported the mom’s view, suggesting the child might not enjoy the adult-focused trip.
