Elon Musk on Tuesday slammed President Donald Trump’s tax-and-spending-cut bill, calling it a “disgusting abomination” that would deepen the federal deficit.
“This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination,” the Tesla and SpaceX CEO wrote on X. “Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong.”
Musk, who led the Trump administration’s DOGE spending-cut initiative until last week, warned the bill would “massively increase the already gigantic budget deficit to $2.5 trillion (!!!).” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt dismissed the remarks, saying, “It doesn’t change the President’s opinion. This is one big, beautiful bill.”
Rep. Thomas Massie responded to Musk’s post: “He’s right.” Musk replied, “Simple math.” Trump, meanwhile, defended the bill, claiming it would lead to “tremendous GROWTH” while criticizing Sen. Rand Paul for opposing it.
