Former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi has disclosed that he appointed Nyesom Wike as his Chief of Staff to closely monitor him, denying Wike’s request to become Finance Commissioner. Speaking on Arise TV’s Prime Time, Amaechi claimed Wike sought the finance role but was instead placed in a position where he could be directly supervised.
“I wanted him as Chief of Staff so I could supervise him,” Amaechi said. “Adoke flew from Abuja to beg for Finance Commissioner, but I refused.” He added that Wike later “made himself governor, minister, and LG chairman.”
