Manchester City have agreed a deal with AC Milan for Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders, marking their first major signing of the summer transfer window, reports said Wednesday.

The 26-year-old is set to join the Premier League club for 55 million euros ($63 million) on a five-year contract, with final details still being completed. City are aiming to register the Netherlands international in time for the FIFA Club World Cup, which begins June 14 in the United States.

Reijnders scored 15 goals for Milan in the 2024/25 season after joining from AZ Alkmaar in 2023. He is expected to help fill the gap left by Kevin De Bruyne, who is closing in on a move to Serie A champions Napoli.

Mateo Kovacic is unavailable for the tournament following Achilles surgery.

Reflecting on City’s trophyless season, chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak said the club “probably should have been more aggressive” in the transfer market.
