Professor Jubril Aminu, former senator and minister, dies at 85

A respected cardiologist, diplomat, and statesman, Professor Aminu served as Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United States between 1999 and 2003.

Professor Jubril Aminu, a former Nigerian senator, minister of education, and renowned academic, has passed away at the age of 85.

He died on Wednesday in Abuja after a prolonged illness.

A respected cardiologist, diplomat, and statesman, Professor Aminu served as Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United States between 1999 and 2003. He later represented Adamawa Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly from 2003 to 2011.

He is survived by his two wives and nine children.
