The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has disowned a fake Facebook account impersonating its Permanent Secretary, Ambassador Dunoma Umar Ahmed, and allegedly offering contracts and rewards online.

In a statement on Friday, spokesperson Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa warned Nigerians to ignore messages from the fraudulent account, which he said was being used to “disseminate false information, award contracts, request assistance, and offer enticing rewards.”

He clarified that Ambassador Ahmed has no social media presence and urged the public to avoid engaging with any such schemes.

“The Ministry categorically disassociates itself from this unwarranted impersonation,” the statement read.

Authorities say the Ministry is working with security agencies and Meta to investigate and shut down the account.

The statement comes weeks after the Ministry also debunked an online recruitment scam. It emphasized that all recruitment is handled solely by the Federal Civil Service Commission and no payments are required.

The Ministry reaffirmed its dedication to integrity and public protection.
