MTN Nigeria says 95 percent of its executive management team are Nigerians, reflecting its commitment to localisation and national development.

Referencing its 2024 Annual Report, the company revealed that 11 of its 15 board members, including CEO Karl Olutokun Toriola and CFO Modupe Kadri, are Nigerians. MTN described this as a benchmark in an industry still influenced by expatriates.

“In an era when local representation in corporate leadership is becoming increasingly important… we have emerged as a clear leader,” the company said.

Chairman Ernest Ndukwe noted, “We are proud to say that the MTN ecosystem has directly or indirectly created employment for more than two million people.”

MTN also highlighted that women represent 41.4% of its workforce and 46.7% of executive roles, boosted by programmes like Women in Tech and Y’ello Mums.

Analyst Olatunji Ojo said MTN’s strategy shows “Nigerian executives are not figureheads but core strategists.”

The company added, “Localisation, diversity, and inclusion are not just buzzwords… our executive structure could well become a reference point.”
