They are harassing many people, and the APC is using intimidation to pressure people into joining ahead of 2027.

Key allies of Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno, including Ini Ememobong and 15 House of Assembly members, have rejected his defection to the APC, citing loyalty to ex-Governor Udom Emmanuel and the PDP.

The Maintain Peace Movement (MPM) leaders and lawmakers resisted the move as Governor Eno formally defected to the APC on Friday. Over 60% of his cabinet, LG chairmen, and Assembly members remain loyal to PDP stalwart Udom Emmanuel, undermining the governor’s crossover.

The mass resistance signals a political crisis, with Emmanuel’s loyalists retaining influence. Analysts say Eno’s defection weakens his grip as PDP-aligned officials dominate key offices.
