US President Donald Trump has said that his relationship with tech billionaire Elon Musk is over.

“I would assume so, yeah,” Trump told NBC News when asked if their ties had ended. When asked if he wanted to reconcile, he simply replied, “No.”

The fallout began after Musk, who donated heavily to Trump’s campaign and briefly served in the White House, publicly criticised Trump’s major tax and spending bill. Musk argued it would “add trillions” to the deficit and “undermine” his efforts at the Department of Government Efficiency.

Trump later said he was “disappointed” with Musk. In response, Musk claimed Trump would have lost the election without him and linked him to Epstein files—a post he later deleted.

Trump fired back on Truth Social, calling Musk “crazy” and threatening to end his federal contracts. “He’s very disrespectful. You could not disrespect the office of the president,” Trump added.

Musk suggested he may support Trump’s political rivals. Trump warned that backing Democrats would bring “serious consequences.”
