“Until true prophets rise to govern, we will keep crowning Saul and expecting to see the reign of David.”
Archbishop Josef Bassey has declared that Nigeria’s salvation will not come from Aso Rock but from spiritual reform. Speaking at a prophetic gathering, Bassey warned that the nation is “under siege by ancestral thrones and blood-drinking altars,” and called on prophetic leaders to govern the nation’s spiritual space.
“We must stop pretending. Nigeria is not just broken politically; it is invaded spiritually,” he said. “Until true prophets rise to govern, we will keep crowning Saul and expecting to see the reign of David.”
He criticized religious leaders for “strategic silence and spiritual compromise,” accusing some of “trading their mantles for political dinner plates.” Bassey proposed a national spiritual legislative body and announced the Fire World Conference in Calabar, June 18–22, 2025.
“God is bypassing the old order. Nigeria’s deliverance will not come from a manifesto; it will come from a movement,” he said, emphasizing the rise of a new prophetic generation.
