Thunderstorms with rains are anticipated over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Niger, Nasarawa, Kwara, Kogi, Benue and Plateau States,” the agency said.
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast widespread thunderstorms and rainfall across Nigeria from Sunday to Tuesday.
In its weekend outlook, NiMet predicted morning thunderstorms in Taraba and Adamawa, with later rains expected in Borno, Kano, Bauchi, and other northern states.
“Later in the day, thunderstorms with rains are anticipated over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Niger, Nasarawa, Kwara, Kogi, Benue and Plateau States,” the agency said.
The southern region will also experience rain, especially in states like Lagos, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Bayelsa.
NiMet urged the public to take precautions, warning of strong winds that may precede storms. “Disconnect electrical appliances… stay away from tall trees,” it advised.
Airline operators were also cautioned to obtain airport-specific weather reports for operational planning.
The agency emphasized safety and staying informed through official updates. “Residents are advised to stay informed through weather updates from NiMet,” it concluded.
