Meta announces bid to invest $10 billion into artificial intelligence

Meta’s total AI investment could reach $65 billion, outpacing Amazon and Microsoft, each planning around $50 billion.

Meta Platforms plans to invest heavily in ScaleAI, a company central to training generative AI systems. According to Bloomberg, “Scale AI, whose customers include Microsoft Corp. and OpenAI, provides data labeling services to help companies train machine-learning models and has become a key beneficiary of the generative AI boom.”

Meta’s total AI investment could reach $65 billion, outpacing Amazon and Microsoft, each planning around $50 billion. Elon Musk’s XAI has also launched a major AI facility in Tennessee.

To support its growing AI operations, Meta signed a $10 billion energy deal with Constellation Energy. Still, former Google CEO Eric Schmidt warned that “99% of the electricity generated in the US over the next decade may be used for AI.”

“Scale plays a key role in making AI data available,” Bloomberg reports, noting the firm relies on contractors to tag and clean data. Despite automation advances, human input remains vital in AI development.
