ABUJA — Senator Ali Ndume has criticized the recent endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for re-election in 2027 by 22 APC governors, warning it mirrors the failed 2015 re-election bid of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
Ndume, speaking on Channels TV, said, “Jonathan had 22 governors then endorsing him like was done now. And what happened? Jonathan lost woefully.”
The Borno South senator distanced himself from the May 22 endorsement, citing Nigeria’s worsening economy and insecurity. “Nigerians cannot see any hope, they are doubting the Renewed Hope,” he said.
Ndume added he walked out of the endorsement event at the Presidential Villa. “I was there for a summit… when I realised it was not… I just left.”
He urged Tinubu to learn from history, adding, “I pity Mr President.”
Ndume, a six-term lawmaker, has served in the National Assembly since 2003 and is a senior member of the APC.
