Recent days have seen an increase in hostilities around the few remaining and functional hospitals.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has warned that Gaza’s healthcare system is “extremely fragile” amid intensifying Israeli bombardments and a prolonged blockade. In a statement on Sunday, the ICRC said hospitals are under growing strain as rising casualties flood limited facilities.

“In the last two weeks, the Red Cross Field Hospital in Rafah has had to activate its mass casualty incident procedure 12 times,” the organisation reported, citing “patients with gunshot and shrapnel wounds” seeking aid at distribution sites.

The Gaza Government Media Office said 125 Palestinians have been killed and 736 injured around Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) aid points since May 27.

Recent Israeli fire reportedly killed 13 civilians and wounded 153 near Rafah and the Wadi Gaza Bridge.

The ICRC stressed that “recent days have seen an increase in hostilities around the few remaining and functional hospitals,” warning of further deaths without urgent protection for medical infrastructure and personnel.
