According to insiders familiar with the matter, Governor Sanwo-Olu allegedly sold land belonging to Tinubu at Banana Island, exacerbating the President’s anger over the matter.
President Bola Tinubu has reportedly clashed with Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu over alleged illegal allocation of 96 hectares at Banana Island, triggering political turmoil within the APC.
Sources reveal Tinubu’s anger stems from Sanwo-Olu’s purported sale of presidential-linked lands to developers, prompting the President to reverse Speaker Mudashiru Obasa’s impeachment – seen as retaliation. The dispute escalated when Tinubu reportedly snubbed Sanwo-Olu at a recent event, only granting him a June 8 audience with Lagos APC leaders present. “Tinubu got upset… over illegal land allocation,” an insider disclosed, linking Obasa’s reinstatement after 49 days to the land feud.
Sanwo-Olu denied tensions after the meeting, dismissing rumors as “people crying more than the bereaved,” while Tinubu moves to revoke questionable allocations. The President had previously ordered cancellations of unauthorized developments during the Lekki Deep Sea Port road commissioning, signaling a crackdown on land grabs.
