FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has renamed the Abuja International Conference Centre after President Bola Tinubu, citing his leadership in completing its rehabilitation.
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has renamed the Abuja International Conference Centre as the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre.
Speaking at the facility’s inauguration in Abuja on Tuesday, Wike also announced that individual halls within the complex had been renamed after Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, and Chief Justice Olukayode Ariwoola.
“Today, this Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre can stand any other International Conference Centre,” Wike said.
He praised President Tinubu’s leadership in reviving the centre, noting that “within eight months Mr President, this is what we have.”
Wike also said ministries and agencies must now pay to use the facility.
“If you want to use a place like this, such a beautiful place, then you must drop something,” he added.
The original ICC was built in 1991 under a military government but had suffered decades of neglect before its recent rehabilitation.
