The Lagos governor says, “I remain dedicated to supporting his efforts and policies.”
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Tuesday reaffirmed his loyalty to President Bola Tinubu, following growing speculation of a rift. In a post on X, he wrote: “I remain dedicated to supporting his efforts and policies, which aim to bring real and lasting change to the lives of Nigerians.”
Sanwo-Olu accompanied Tinubu as he departed Lagos after the Eid-el-Kabir holidays, saying Lagos “stands ready to play its part in building the Nigeria we all hope for.”
This follows remarks from Chief Muraina Taiwo of the Governance Advisory Council, who said: “The father (Tinubu) has drawn his son (Sanwo-Olu) closer… we are now one in Lagos State.”
Speculation had been fuelled by a viral video of Tinubu allegedly snubbing Sanwo-Olu on May 31, and the governor’s absence at the Epe-Ijebu Ode seaport access road reconstruction.
Sanwo-Olu’s presence at Tinubu’s Sallah engagements and his public reaffirmation appear to signal that the relationship remains politically intact.
