Segun Sowunmi calls Peter Obi his “greatest disappointment” ahead of 2027, criticizes his openness to Atiku-led coalition, and warns of shifting support to President Tinubu.
Segun Sowunmi, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain and former aide to ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has described Peter Obi as his “greatest disappointment” ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on Arise Television, Sowunmi criticized Obi’s engagement with the proposed opposition coalition led by Atiku, warning that such alignments risk diluting Obi’s unique political brand.
“My greatest disappointment as we are getting ready for 2027 is actually Peter,” he said. “You made one effort and then the next thing you’re doing—you started running up and down the street.”
Sowunmi urged Obi to return to the PDP and warned that if Obi failed to clarify his position by May 29, he would be “more inclined to support Asiwaju.”
The coalition aims to unite opposition figures under one platform to challenge the APC, but the PDP Governors Forum has rejected the idea, insisting the party should remain the coalition’s base.
Obi has yet to issue a formal response.
