The United States is preparing to evacuate its embassy in Iraq due to increased security risks, officials confirmed on Wednesday. An Iraqi security official and a U.S. source told Reuters that preparations are underway for the evacuation.

In response to the heightened threats in the region, the U.S. has also ordered the departure of non-essential personnel and family members from its embassies in Bahrain and Kuwait. These moves come amid growing regional tensions linked to ongoing conflicts and instability across the Middle East.

Meanwhile, the United Kingdom issued a warning to vessels navigating the Arabian Gulf, the Gulf of Oman, and the Strait of Hormuz. The advisory follows what officials described as “increased tensions” in those waters.

“The U.S. embassy in Iraq is preparing for an evacuation,” an Iraqi security official and a U.S. source told Reuters.

Both Washington and London have ramped up security protocols to protect diplomatic staff and ensure maritime safety in the volatile region.
