Chairman, Senate Committee on Interior, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, has petitioned Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo over alleged extortion of passengers by Nigerian airlines.

Oshiomhole also denied claims by Air Peace that he disrupted operations after missing a flight. “I didn’t disrupt anything,” he said. “I refused to let them ‘sort me out’ while others were left stranded.”

Briefing journalists in Abuja, the former Edo State governor detailed two recent incidents where he was denied boarding despite arriving before departure deadlines and checking in online. “That is not policy enforcement, it is extortion,” he said, accusing airlines of reselling seats at inflated rates.

He submitted video evidence and a formal complaint to the minister, who he said promised to investigate.

“They were selling tickets on the spot for N250,000, while telling passengers who booked for N146,000 that check-in had closed,” he claimed, calling out the “VIP culture of impunity” in Nigeria’s aviation sector.
