Viswash Kumar Ramesh, the sole survivor of the London-bound Air India crash, says the plane felt “at a standstill” before slamming into a hostel, killing all others aboard.
The sole survivor of the London-bound Air India plane that crashed into a hostel for medical students is recalling the moment the plane felt like it was at “a standstill” in the air before it came down. 40-year-old Viswash Kumar Ramesh spoke from his hospital bed, saying he opened his eyes after the plane crashed to find those around him had died.
Officials believe all 241 others aboard the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner died, as well as some others who had been in the hostel.
“Everything happened in front of my eyes. I don’t [know] how I survived,” Ramesh said.
Ramesh was seated in 11A near the emergency exit on the aircraft, police said, and was seen limping out of the wreckage and into the street in a blood-stained T-shirt, according to Reuters. He had bruises on his face and burned his hands, but doctors told local media he did not sustain any major injuries..
