Mossad smuggled drones and missiles into Iran before Israel’s deadly airstrike.
Israeli intelligence agency Mossad carried out a months-long covert campaign, smuggling drones and precision missiles deep into Iran before Friday’s unprecedented airstrike targeting Iran’s nuclear and military infrastructure. Security sources say Operation “Rising Lion” unfolded in three phases: agents planted explosive-laden drones, deployed commandos to sabotage radar systems, and launched UAVs to destroy missile launchers near Tehran.
The campaign culminated in coordinated airstrikes involving 200 aircraft and 100 targets, including the Natanz nuclear site. “We knew this would lead them to meet — but more importantly, we knew how to keep them there,” an Israeli official said, after Mossad reportedly tricked top Iranian commanders into assembling for a meeting before they were killed.
Among those reportedly eliminated were IRGC head Gen. Hossein Salami and top military chiefs. Prime Minister Netanyahu defended the strikes, saying, “If we don’t act now, we simply won’t be here.” Iran condemned the attack as a “declaration of war” and vowed retaliation.
