Trump to target US employers in new immigration crackdown – Homan

Tom Homan says the Trump administration will increase prosecutions of companies employing undocumented immigrants, warning employers’ fears are justified.

The Trump administration is set to intensify civil and criminal prosecutions of companies hiring undocumented immigrants, White House border czar Tom Homan said Wednesday. “Worksite enforcement operations are going to massively expand,” Homan told reporters.

The move addresses criticisms that the administration has focused on migrants while ignoring employers. “This administration just takes care of its donors,” Rep. Ruben Gallego posted on X.

Immigration attorneys say businesses are panicking. “Employers are very scared — folks in LA, particularly,” said Nashville-based lawyer Bruce Buchanan. Some major firms, including Smithfield and DoorDash, have warned investors of operational risks tied to immigration enforcement.

Federal agents recently raided four garment district businesses in Los Angeles, and Homan confirmed that employer sanctions will follow.

President Trump acknowledged industry concerns Thursday, saying on Truth Social that jobs are “almost impossible to replace,” but added, “changes are coming.”

“The more you remove those magnets,” Homan said, “the less people are going to come.”
