Tensions between Israel and Iran escalated dramatically Friday as Iran launched missiles and drones in response to Israeli airstrikes on nuclear sites and top commanders, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). Warning sirens blared across Israel, and residents were ordered into bomb shelters. While Israel’s Iron Dome intercepted many missiles, parts of Tel Aviv sustained damage.
Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin confirmed over 200 Israeli airstrikes targeted Iranian nuclear infrastructure and military leaders. “Throughout the day, we once again demonstrated our ability to remove threats in a coordinated, precise and daring manner,” Defrin said.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei vowed fierce retaliation, saying Israel would be left “helpless.” The IDF said it struck a uranium facility in Isfahan, dismantling vital infrastructure.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated, “Iran should not target U.S. interests or personnel.” President Trump warned Iran had missed multiple chances to negotiate and called for an end to the “slaughter.”
