Iran says its forces have downed another Israeli F-35 jet and captured the pilot, escalating tensions in the region.

Iran claimed on Saturday to have shot down a third Israeli F-35 stealth fighter jet amid escalating tensions with Israel. The country’s military said the jet was hit in western Iranian airspace, with the pilot ejecting and allegedly captured by Iranian commandos.

Iran’s state news agency Tasnim earlier reported two similar downings, bringing the total to three according to the Tehran Times. The incident, if verified, would mark the first combat loss of a U.S.-made F-35. Reports also suggest Iran intercepted several micro aerial vehicles. No further details were given on the captured pilot’s identity, fueling fears of broader conflict.
