Iran Retaliates with Strikes on Israel, Civilians React with Fear and Defiance

Iran launched a series of missile and drone strikes on Israel early Saturday, killing at least three and injuring dozens. The attacks followed Israeli airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites and the killing of top Iranian officials.

Explosions were reported across Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, prompting civilians to seek shelter. “Suddenly there was a crazy explosion… all the neighbours are complaining about shattered glass,” said resident Opal Mizrachi.

Moshe Shani described running to a shelter as a missile struck: “We thought that’s it… half of the house was gone.”

Israel said its earlier attack was a pre-emptive move against Iran’s nuclear ambitions, a claim not backed by the U.S. or experts. U.S.-Iran nuclear talks have been cancelled.

In Tel Aviv, reactions varied. “Nothing will deter us,” said resident David, while another, Erez, expressed hope for peace: “I hoped none of this would happen. Not to us and not to them.”
